The Spaces Between Fact and Fiction
An exhibition of recent works by noted South Carolina artist Harriet Goode will be on display in the Etherredge Center Art Gallery at USC-Aiken from Aug. 23 to Sept. 30. The exhibition, “The Spaces Between Fact and Fiction,” will feature 21 paintings, mostly oil on canvas but including several of mixed media. Goode, who received her formal education at Converse College and Winthrop University, is noted for her narrative and figurative depictions of women. She describes her work as depicting some of “that thick and thin stuff life doles out with regularity.” She uses metaphors and symbols to convey her vision, with boxes, keys, string and birds often appearing in her paintings.
