The Islamic-Byzantine Frontier

The South Carolina Chapter of the Archaeological Institute of America presents The Islamic-Byzantine Frontier, a lecture by Dr. A. Asa Eger of UNC-Greensboro. Dr. Eger will examine the physical and ideological factors that both Christians and Muslims perpetuated in the formation of the Syrian frontier in the 7th century CE. It is a timely study of a region currently in crisis, one that traces the genesis of conflict to the ancient and medieval world. The lecture takes place February 2 at the College of Charleston’s Simons Center for the Arts. Free.
