The Image as Object: Experimental Processes in Photography

Indie Grits Labs in north Columbia offers the workshop The Image as Object: Experimental Processes in Photography on Saturdays from July 6 – 27. In an era where most of our personal photographs live on the screens of our phones, let’s take some time together to slow down the way we see and make pictures we can hold. Using analog photo techniques and nontraditional print surfaces from leaves to fabric, this workshop will investigate how we might translate feeling through material. As we make and transform our own images through an array of processes – like lumen prints, image transfers, and even temporary tattoos – we’ll consider the history of alternative photographic techniques and discover contemporary photographic artists whose work engages with materiality.
