The Awakening of German Romanticism

The Long Bay Symphony presents The Awakening of German Romanticism March 3 at Myrtle Beach High School’s Music and Arts Centre. The concert features one of the iconic harbingers of this style in Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5; a perfect balance of old and new in Felix Mendelssohn’s renowned Violin Concerto (featuring violinist Benjamin Baker); a descriptive tone poem based on Schiller’s drama The Bride of Messina by Robert Schumann; and the alternately brilliant and lyrical Euryanthe Overture by the Father of German Romantic opera, Carl Maria von Weber.
