Taking the Mystery out of Sgraffito/Mishima/Neriage-Colored Slip Workshop

City of Columbia Parks and Recreaton offers a workshop in sgraffito/Mishima and Neriage-colored slip, April 30 from 10 am to 4 pm at Edisto Discovery Park, Columbia. This workshop will cover multiple techniques. Students will learn about “Gram Scales” to make their own colored slip, colored clay, glazes and underglazes. There will also be a section on making Neriage (layered multi-colored blocks). Participants will be provided a number of “take home” items as part of the registration fee including some of the instructor’s “original drawings, suitable for the process of the Sgraffito technique.” The instructor, Nancy Grills, is a watercolor artist and a potter. Registration fee of $125 is due by the deadline of April 15. The workshop is suitable for any level of pottery experience.
