Surviving War is Hell: Healing the Emotional Traumas of War Through Art
Furman University Art Department presents Surviving War is Hell May 8 – June 15 in the Thompson Art Gallery. The exhibition features work inspired by artist Brad Carraway’s struggle with combat-related Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and his desire to help others better understand the condition. The exhibition immerses the viewer in a visual narrative of internal conflict and healing, with the goal to engage and educate the audience on the effects of PTSD. The exhibition will also highlight the benefits of therapeutic art as treatment, with several art talks scheduled to discuss the symbolism behind the artwork and the benefits of using art as a healing tool for mental conditions and emotional traumas.
