Steve Jameson: Ode to the Grand Strand
A signature member of the National Watercolor Society and long-standing Myrtle Beach resident, Kentucky-born artist Steve Jameson, who paints under the pseudonym “Cedar,” makes his debut solo exhibition at the Franklin G. Burroughs-Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum, with Steve Jameson: Ode to the Grand Strand. Through the years, Jameson has developed a deep love for the South Carolina coast and finds a special charm in its older, abandoned buildings of which he paints lively portrayals. Full of enthusiasm for the unfolding day at an hour when the landscape is flooded with golden sunlight at a long, low and artistic angle, he goes hunting for local scenes to photograph. Later, in his studio, Jameson pours through his shots for inspiration to develop his paintings. The exhibition is on view May 26th through September 13th.
