Speaker Series: Andrea Wulf
Charleston Library Society continues its Speaker Series with Andrea Wulf September 24th at 6:00 PM, at 164 King Street in Charleston. In her new book, “The Invention of Nature: Alexander von Humboldt’s New World,” Wulf reveals the extraordinary life of the visionary German naturalist Alexander von Humboldt (1769-1859) and how he influenced the way we understand nature today. Humboldt was an intrepid explorer and the most famous scientist of his age. Perceiving nature as an interconnected global force, he discovered similarities between climate zones across the world and predicted human-induced climate change. This event is hosted by the Middleton Place Foundation and the Charleston Library Society.
