Southern Sound Series: Sierra Hull
A virtuoso mandolin-player with a lustrous voice, Sierra Hull returns for an encore McCelvey Center performance the Culture & Heritage Museums in York April 13. A child prodigy who was born and raised in Tennessee, Hull was mentored by Alison Krauss and awarded a Presidential Scholarship to study at the Berklee College of Music. Hull’s Weighted Mind, produced by Bela Fleck, received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Folk Album. In 2016, Hull was the first female to be named Mandolin Player of the Year by the International Bluegrass Music Association; she’s received that honor twice since. Concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Vittles & Fiddles, a pre-show affair with food truck and live music, begins at 5:30 p.m. The 2019 Southern Sound Series is presented by Rock Hill Coca-Cola and stage sponsor Founders Federal Credit Union.
