South Carolina High School Writing Contest
Submissions for the third annual South Carolina High School Writing Contest are now being accepted by South Carolina Honors College and University of South Carolina Press. The contest is open to high school juniors and seniors who are residents of South Carolina. The topic is “How should we improve the state of South Carolina?” Students can respond in any genre (fiction, drama, poetry, essay) in 750 words or less. The deadline is Monday, November 2. The judge is New York Times bestselling author Mary Alice Monroe. Cash prizes of $1,000, $500, and $250 will be awarded to first, second, and third place winners. The entries of finalists and winners will be published in a young writers anthology by the University of South Carolina Press.
