Solo Exhibitions by Kim Thomas and Doug McAbee

Local artist Kim Thomas creates works that are a visual discussion around climate change, nature, and our insatiable consumer culture. In manipulating debris through a variety of media — primarily sculpture, installation, and printmaking – she presents the viewer with an everyday object in an unexpected, new form. In Plastic Beach, Thomas creates imagined future relics pieced together from the debris of both the natural environment and our plastic single-use culture. It Don’t Cost Nothin’ To Be Nice by Doug McAbee features colorful drawings on wood, brightly colored steel sculptures, and site-specific drawings directly on the walls of the exhibition space with acrylic paint marker.
