Sheep Shearing Day at Historic Brattonsville
Interpreters at the living history museum at Historic Brattonsville will be shearing the Gulf Coast Heritage Sheep and demonstrating throughout the day how raw woolen fleece is processed for carding, spinning, dyeing with natural indigo, and weaving the wool into finished garments. The plantation has newborn lambs this spring! Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy April 11 on the 778-acre site that includes farmed land with an assortment of heritage breed animals, a Revolutionary War battlefield site, a nature preserve with miles of walking trails, and more. 10:00 am until 4:00 pm. Admission: Adult $6; Senior $5; Youth 4-17 $3; CHM members and children 3 and under admitted free. Historic Brattonsville is located at 1444 Brattonsville Road, McConnells, SC.
