Seeds to Sow: Remembering Paul Martyka (1950-2016)
Seeds to Sow is an exhibition celebrating long-time artist and influential Winthrop University Associate Professor Emeritus, Paul Martyka (1950-2016). The exhibition, on display in the Rutledge and Elizabeth Dunlap Patrick Galleries September 21 – November 16, showcases the spectrum of his work in printmaking, painting, and mixed media from his years as a student in Michigan until 2015. By observing a timeline of his career, the high level of artistry given to his methods and creative vision becomes evident. His use of a geometric iconography, attention to color, and continual experimentation show his distinct visual style. In addition to the works he made independently, the exhibition will feature collaborative works with students, highlighting his attention to the development of future artists. Free.
