Remnants of the Rice Culture: Photography by David Shriver Soliday
Remnants of the Rice Culture features aerial photography of retired but still extant tideland rice fields in the South Carolina Lowcountry by David Shriver Soliday. From this perspective, Soliday presents a unique way of looking at tideland rice culture and a visualization of how the various tasks on the ground, or in the fields, coalesced into the entire, complex rice plantation system. On view September 29th – January 7th at the Franklin G. Burroughs – Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum in Myrtle Beach. Tuesday – Saturday from 10 am – 4 pm, Sunday from 1 – 4 pm, closed on Monday. Admission is free, donations are appreciated. A gallery talk with David Shriver Soliday will be held Sunday, October 25, 2015 from 2 – 3:30 pm. Admission is free, but reservations are necessary.
