Piano Music With a Feminine Touch – A Celebration of Eight Women Composers in History

The University of South Carolina Sumter Division of Arts and Letters will present concert pianist Jane Luther Smith in a free Lecture/Recital performance on Friday, February 19th 2016 at 12 Noon in the USC Sumter Nettles Auditorium. In Piano Music With a Feminine Touch – A Celebration of Eight Women Composers in History, Miss Smith will discuss and perform seldom heard jewels for the piano by Denise Lassimonne, Clara Schumann, Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel, Cecile Chaminade, Amy Marcy Beach, Louise Farrenc, Margaret Ruthven Lang and Clara Gottschalk Peterson. Smith has performed extensively in the US, Canada, England, and in Eastern Europe. She is listed on the South Carolina Arts Commission‘s Approved Artist Roster and is a music faculty member of the University of South Carolina Sumter.
