Paintin de Story: Gullah Folk Art with Diane Britton-Dunham

Beaufort Arts Council offers “Paintin de Story: Gullah Folk Art with Diane Britton-Dunham,” a 3-day acrylic and mixed media course in telling YOUR own story through painting, as done in Gullah Folk and Vernacular Art. The March 22-24 course will provide participants the study of Gullah and Gullah culture through the imagery of the sea islands. While references of lowcountry life will be represented in this course, teaching artist Diane Britton-Dunham will also discuss influences from lowcountry artists, such as Jonathan Green and Sam Doyle, focusing on the bold colors and vivid textural changes of these artists as students create their own canvas.
