Our Country’s Good

Coastal Carolina University’s Department of Theater presents Timberlake Wertenbaker’s drama, Our Country’s Good, November 2-10 in the Edwards Black Box Theater. Adapted from a novel by Thomas Keneally, this production tells the story of a civilizing experiment that takes place in 1789 at the first penal colony in Australia. To celebrate the king’s birthday, a group of Royal Marines and transported convicts work together to put on a production of Farquhar’s The Recruiting Officer. This performance became the first play ever to be staged in Australia. Admission is $17; discounts are available.
