Opening Masterworks: Brahms Symphony No. 2
Music Director Ken Lam conducts the Charleston Symphony Orchestra’s opening Masterworks concert of the season September 15 and 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Charleston Gaillard Center, featuring Johannes Brahms’ sunny Symphony No. 2. Guest artist Julian Schwarz joins the orchestra in performing Lalo’s Concerto for Violoncello, playing a cello made in Naples by Gennaro Gagliano in 1743. The program opens with Dvořák’s tone poem, “Midday Witch”, based on an eerie Czech folktale. Tickets $25-$105.
