One-Day Workshops: Beginning Glaze Application
Columbia Art Center, part of City of Columbia Parks and Recreation, offers one-day beginner-level workshops focusing on the application and use of glazes (specifically, cone 5 glazes). Basic application methods will be taught include dipping, pouring, trailing, brushing, and spraying. Masking and resist techniques will also be covered, along with tips for how to minimize common problems. Participants should bring two or three bisque pieces of stoneware or porcelain to test techniques (the pieces should not exceed 6″ in any direction). This class is suitable for ages 15 through adults. Registration fee of $40 includes supplies, instruction and operating costs. Class size is limited to a minimum of two and a maximum of six. This workshop will be offered February 22nd, May 30th, August 22nd, and November 14th, 2020.
