OLLI at Clemson Presents The Trench Poets of the Great War
OLLI at Clemson University presents The Trench Poets of the Great War October 18th and October 25th from 9 – 10:30 a.m. at the Charles K. Cheezem Education Center. In World War I, or the Great War, more than 10 million combatants died and more than 20 million were wounded. New weapons such as planes, tanks, machine guns, and chemical weaponry took their toll. In the midst of the carnage, soldiers wrote poetry that reflected the range of emotions they experienced and the physical horrors they witnessed. This class will read and discuss a number of these poems in groups and as a whole. $27 for OLLI members; $57 for non-members.
