North Charleston City Gallery Exhibits by Katherine Hester and Jenion Tyson
The City of North Charleston’s 2019/20 Artist-in-Residence Katherine Hester will present a series of mixed media paintings of the ocean; exploring the romantic ideal of a day spent at the beach and the reality of humans’ impact on coastal life. The exhibition, Ebb and Flow, features a collection of small studies of figures on the shorelines and within ocean landscapes, set among large canvases that reflect what remnants are left behind when humans carelessly interact with coastal environments. Photographer Jenion Tyson of North Charleston will present A Bug’s Eye View: Macro Photography in the Garden. Tyson is a certified master gardener, bird watcher, and nature lover and began taking photos as a supplement to his gardening articles. Both exhibitions are on view through January 31st at North Charleston City Gallery.
