North Charleston City Gallery Exhibit – Lowcountry Kitchens, by Daryle Halbert
The North Charleston City Gallery hosts an exhibition of work by the City of North Charleston’s 2015/16 Artist-in-Residence, Daryle Halbert, throughout January 2016. Daryle, a member of the Charleston Artist Guild, has become very interested in the rich African American history and culture of the South Carolina and Georgia Lowcountry since relocating here in 2011. His most recent paintings depict scenes of Lowcountry cuisine, agriculture, music, and folklore. His exhibit, Lowcountry Kitchens, will feature works focused on the culinary symbols and traditions unique to the Gullah-Geechee culture.
