North Charleston City Gallery Exhibit — Dana Kotler & O. Gustavo Plascencia

North Charleston City Gallery presents works by Dana Kotler & O. Gustavo Plascencia March 1 – 29. Kotler, of New York, will display a selection of small oil paintings and large scale mixed media paintings in Excavation Sites. Kotler’s paintings are massive excavations into the “world of living things and irreconcilable spaces,” intricate scenes of daily life that mix elements of still life compositions, figurative imagery, textured layers, and swaths of abstraction. Plascencia, of Memphis, TN, will present Constellate, an archive of framed archival pigment prints of mostly soil and foliage. The series blends traditional and alternative photographic techniques. The resulting images are abstract contemplations on the narratives of the Earth’s natural history.
