The 2018 Horry County Museum Documentary Film Series continues with Men of Honor: Freddie Stowers & Alvin York November 7 at 1 p.m. This film follows the stories of two Medal of Honor recipients from World War I. Stowers, a native of South Carolina, was a corporal and squad leader who was killed in action while leading an assault that helped to break the German line in northern France. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor in 1991, and became the first African-American soldier to receive the award in World War I. Free.
