Michaela Pilar Brown’s work explores the body in a variety of contexts: age, gender, race and sexuality. It exists in the space between reality, memory, and fantasy. She uses photography, performance art, painting and more to explore everything from cultural hierarchies related to beauty to the challenges of race and gender. “Liquor and Watermelon Will Kill You,” work by Michaela Pilar Brown, is on view at Coastal Carolina University’s Rebecca Randall Bryan Art Gallery, October 19-November 20 in Conway. Gallery Hours: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday. Opening Reception: Oct. 22, 4:30 – 6:30 pm.
