Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World
The Edwards College Film Series and the Department of History at Coastal Carolina University present a screening of Master and Commander September 6th. During the Napoleonic Wars, a brash British captain pushes his ship and crew to their limits around South America in pursuit of a formidable French war vessel. After the screening, Daniel Ennis, dean of the Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts, provides a historical context for the film and leads a discussion on imperialism and early 18th-century naval warfare and exploration. The event will be held at 5 p.m. in The Coastal Theater of the Lib Jackson Studio Union (room A-110) on Coastal Carolina University’s campus. Free.
