Making a Statement: Shaping Meaning in the Visual Arts

USC Associate Professor and Head of the Printmaking Program Mary Robinson, if ART Gallery owner Wim Roefs, and recent USC studio art graduate Eric Adams, will discuss the role of artists’ statements within contemporary art production, June 15 at 5:30 pm at the University of South Carolina’s McKissick Museum in Columbia. Aimed at drawing attention to both the creation of meaning in the visual arts and the shaping of artistic identity, this discussion will touch on how the arts often rely on shared meaning between artist and object and between object and viewer. “Making a Statement: Shaping Meaning in the Visual Arts” is presented in conjunction with the exhibition, “Richard Burnside: Who is King?” on view through August 6th.
