Magnetic South: Henryk Gorecki

CofC Concerts presents the Magnetic South series, which highlights musical masterpieces of the 20th century and also commissions and premieres new work. This year-round series exposes the College’s students and the local community to unique, contemporary classical music. Co-founded by Edward Hart, Yiorgos Vassilandonakis, and Yuriy Bekker, Magnetic South is a collaborative project between the College of Charleston Department of Music and the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. Vassilandonakis is the Conductor, and Bekker is the Concertmaster. The Nov. 17 concert features an evening dedicated to the musical genius of Henryk Gorecki. Sponsored by Dock Street Communities. Show is at 7:30 pm in the Simons Center for the Arts Recital Hall at 54 St. Philip St, Charleston, SC. Preconcert talk with composers, moderated by Edward Hart: 7:00 pm
