Lonely Though We Love
Theatre Converse will reimagine Lonely Though We Love, Chikamatsu Monzaemon’s masterpiece of Japanese theatre in the scintillating style of American film noir. On May 22nd, 1703, a young couple from Osaka took their lives in a love suicide pact. The salaciousness of the event made it big news. This production blends traditional bunraku puppetry and physical movement to create a shadowy world of secret courtesans and swarthy detectives. The performance runs November 16th – 19th at the Hazel Abbott Theater on the Converse College campus in Spartanburg. Tickets $5-$10.
