“Lizzie Borden, took an axe…or did she?” – a Chautauqua Virtual Event

Greenville Chautauqua and Spartanburg County Libraries present “Lizzie Borden, took an axe…or did she?,” a Chautauqua virtual event featuring audience Q & A. Join award-winning actress Leslie Goddard as she performs as Lizzie Borden, accused of the brutal hatchet murder of her father and stepmother in 1892. Hear Lizzie’s story come alive as she talks about her life growing up in Fall River, Massachusetts, her estrangement from her stepmother, and her troubled relationship with her father. Was Lizzie a desperate and unsettled daughter who resorted to murder… or an innocent woman who could never escape the trauma that destroyed her life? Leslie Goddard has previously performed for Greenville Chautauqua as Jackie Kennedy, the Hamilton Women, Clara Barton, Alice Paul and Bette Davis. The event is free, but registration is required.
