Coastal Carolina University Department of Languages and Intercultural Studies presents a screening of the film, Le Chef December 4 at 5 p.m. in the Coastal Theatre at Lib Jackson Student Union on the main campus. In Daniel Cohen’s 2012 French comedy, the tastes of a classically trained chef clash with the style of the restaurant’s new CEO, who embraces an emerging trend in molecular gastronomy. Following the screening, Elaine Berard, teaching associate in the Department of Languages and Intercultural Studies, leads a discussion on French and American attitudes toward food. She considers how attitudes toward food evolve and the roles that food plays in French culture. The film will be shown in French with English subtitles. Free.
