Kevin Korschgen Quintet, Wheel Session 64
Wheel Session 64 in Greenville features the Kevin Korschgen Quintet April 18 at 7:30 p.m. at 1801 Rutherford Road, Building 1. A jazz drummer and music educator, Korschgen moved to Chicago in 1980 to join a band called Rush Hour, and performed with many of Chicago’s finest jazz musicians, including Pat Mallinger, Scott Burns, Jody Christian, Neil Alger, and Chris Foreman. He has toured with Detroit’s trumpeter Marcus Belgrave and played ‘jobbing dates’ with pianist Lyle Mays. Korschgen resides in Greenville, where he enjoys teaching, writing, and performing. He hosts the Upstates Wheel Sessions jazz performance series, where as the sessions’ resident drummer he has performed with many of the Carolinas’ foremost jazz musicians.
