The Sword of Damocles is a site-specific installation that examines the delicate and often futile attempts by humanity to control the natural forces that surround us. Visitors can expect to see objects found after a flood, suspended off the gallery floor, hovering in a dreamlike state, existing both within and beyond our reality. Referencing the Greek myth of Damocles, the tension of the suspension symbolizes binding and restraint controlling the objects, as much as a fear of losing and having them fall.
