Introduction to Pottery

The City of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department offers a 6-week Introduction to Pottery Class designed to equip the student with the basics of pottery. This includes but is not limited to information on types of clay, knowledge of basic tools and techniques associated with pinch pots, coils and working with slabs. There will be targeted hand building and an estimated 4 projects will be completed. There is a wheel throwing demonstration at the end of class. Students will need to bring a basic pottery tool kit. All other materials supplied. Class makes with minimum of 3 and maximum of 10 students. Cost of class is $80 for the 6 weeks. Classes are held on Mondays 6:30-8:30 pm at the Columbia Art Center, 1928 Calhoun Street, Columbia, SC. Sessions available between July 6 and December 14.
