GROWING OLD: FOOD AND ORAL HISTORY IN PERFORMANCE

Converse College presents Growing Old: Food and Oral History in Performance February 21 -24 at the Hazel B. Abbott Theater. This innovative performance is a collaborative creation between student participants of Converse and elderly community participants of Spartanburg. Growing Old engages the memories and stories of both elderly women and young women to explore the centrality of food in our lives, to address food insecurity in the American South, the social isolation of elderly community members, and the intimate ways in which food is central to the social fabric of Southern women’s lives.
