Group Exhibit: Torreah “Cookie” Washington and Wayne Copeland

Torreah “Cookie” Washington is an award-winning fourth-generation needleworker and curator. In her exhibit, “The Alchemy of Textiles: A Journey,” Washington will showcase a collection of old favorites along with never-before-seen fiber pieces. From her Spirit-infused Goddess dolls and her thought-provoking griot storytelling quilts to her handbags and unique pillows, Cookie’s works are captivating and compelling. As this most challenging year of her life comes to a close, Cookie aims to present these works as a celebration of her personal and artistic journey. The exhibit will also feature pieces from emerging artist Wayne Copeland. On view Wednesday through Saturday, November 1-30. The public is invited to meet the artists at the gallery on Friday, November 17, during a free reception from 5 to 7 p.m.
