Gospel and Gullah in Georgetown: Master Classes with Jonathan Green

Gospel and Gullah in Georgetown is a multiple media praise music and cultural arts festival which spotlights talent at performance and other arts venues. Master painter Jonathan Green will lead two public art classes, April 18th at the Cultural Council of Georgetown County studios. The artist will discuss the influence of Gullah Geechee and Lowcountry culture on his work, and class attendees will paint while Green circulates and offers insights on each participant’s work. The fee is $250. Proceeds from the classes will support arts programming at The Mitney Project and Cultural Council of Georgetown County. With a strong focus on gospel music and regional Gullah Geechee culture, Gospel and Gullah in Georgetown will also feature three live concerts, an open-air street fair with the Top Gullah Chef Cook-off, Gullah Artisans Court and children’s pavilion, as well as screenings of critically-acclaimed documentary films about gospel music from around the world. Presented by The Mitney Project, Cultural Council of Georgetown County, Georgetown County Tourism Office, and Georgetown Business Association.
