Gerhard Richter Painting – Summer Art Movies
Spartanburg Art Museum continues its Summer Art Movies series with Gerhard Richter Painting, July 28 at 7PM. German artist Gerhard Richter has spent over half a century experimenting with a range of techniques and ideas, addressing historical crises and mass media representation alongside explorations of chance procedures. This mesmerizing footage, of a highly charged process of creation and destruction, turns this portrait of an artist into a work of art itself. Films are projected onto the museum’s 15-foot high walls after a brief introduction by a SAM staff member. All films are family-friendly and a cash bar with fresh popcorn is open during the event. Free admission (suggested donation $3).
