Gage Hall Coffeehouse Presents the Southern Flavor Bluegrass Band
Gage Hall Coffeehouse at the Unitarian Church in Charleston presents the Southern Flavor Bluegrass Band, one of the city’s most popular bluegrass groups, to perform bluegrass favorites as well music from other genres, October 17th. The band’s founder is George B. Del Porto, who plays mandolin. George moved to Charleston from Nashville 43 years ago and has been playing bluegrass music for most of his life. Kevin Gore, a longtime banjo player, came from southern California where he played banjo professionally for many years. Rounding out the band are George’s sons F. B. Del Porto, on guitar, who has played in a number of bluegrass and rock bands over the years and Anthony Del Porto who is also a seasoned acoustic bassist and vocalist. F. B. Del Porto. The Del Portos specialize in tight family harmonies for which the band has become known.
