From the Archives: Singin’ Ella – Carmen Bradford with Charleston Jazz

In 2017, the world celebrated the centennial of Ella Fitzgerald, known to many as “The First Lady of Song.” Her fame began as featured vocalist with the Chick Webb Orchestra on their recording of “A-Tisket, A-Tasket.” In 1942, she started her solo career and went on to record some of the most beloved jazz albums that highlighted her “scat singing.” Modern jazz vocalist Carmen Bradford has performed on four Grammy Award-winnings albums, in sold out concerts the world over, and on 16 other recordings. The Charleston Jazz Orchestra welcomed Bradford to pay tribute to one of her musical heroes, Ella Fitzgerald, live on February 24, 2018. Now, Charleston Jazz offers an encore of that performance, From the Archives, free on Facebook and YouTube, September 24th.
