FOLKFabulous@theFair 2018: Day Seven
FOLKFabulous@theFair returns to the SC State Fair in October. This year’s festival celebrates our state’s vibrant pottery traditions. Daily activities include the exhibit, Pottery in South Carolina, a Pottery Boneyard by the Newberry Arts Center and SC Clay Conference, and an oral history project, Share Your Fair Story. For Day Seven on October 16, (noon – 6 p.m.), we’re taking a trip to the coast and learning all about Gullah Geechee history and sweetgrass basket traditions. Beginning at noon in the Rosewoods building. enjoy demos featuring multiple basket weavers from the Sweetgrass Cultural Arts Association. There will also be hands-on activities and pieces for sale.
