Flip Flops & Soap Boxes: Issue Voting in the United States

Most people are familiar with the Democratic and Republican Parties in the United States. However, party affiliation is not the only factor people use to decide how to vote. Many voters choose candidates based on specific issues. Historically, some of the biggest issues for voters have been the economy, the Vietnam War, and busing to integrate schools during the Civil Rights movement. Flip Flops & Soap Boxes explores the variety of ways American voters have communicated their opinions on these and other issues in the past. On view at McKissick Museum January 14 – June 13.
