Film Screening: The English Patient
In The English Patient (1996), a young nurse tends to a badly burned plane crash victim at the close of World War II. His past is shown in flashbacks, revealing an involvement in a fateful love affair. After the screening, Tripthi Pillai, associate professor of English at Coastal Carolina University, provides the historical context for the film and leads a discussion on postcolonial identity and nationalism. The screening will be held October 11th at 5 p.m. in the Lib Jackson Studio Union at Coastal Carolina University. Free.
