Featured Quilter Maxi Lardiere at the Horry County Museum
The Horry County Museum will host a free trunk show by quilter Maxi Lardiere on March 23rd at 1 p.m. Lardiere was born in Austria and immigrated to the US in 1961. She always dreamed of going into art and fashion design but life, family, and making a living got in the way. Retirement at age 63 gave her the freedom that she now treasures. She learned about quilting from her daughter and it immediately changed her life. She has since created an immense body of work. Her quilts have sold all over the USA as well as Canada, Austria, Germany, and Italy. Many more were given as gifts and made for different charity organizations. Her work has been in Quilt and Art Shows in Lancaster, PA; New Jersey; and now in South Carolina where she currently resides.
