Explorations in Clay – Middle and High School
City of Columbia Parks and Recreation offers Explorations in Clay for middle and high school students September 10 – October 15. Students will explore and apply a variety of techniques, including hand-building, throwing and surface treatment and gain experience creating functional as well as sculptural three-dimensional works. Although the focus will be understanding and applying the elements of art, students will also learn about the traditions and history of ceramic arts. Class meets on Mondays from 5:30-7:30 p.m. for six weeks. Minimum three and maximum 10 in class. Registration fee of $90 includes all materials, instruction and operating costs. Students must have their own basic pottery tool kit. Classes will be held at the Columbia Art Center, 1227 Taylor Street. This class series will be offered throughout the year.
