Babe Ruth is widely regarded as one of the greatest baseball players of all time, even transcending baseball to become America’s first sports superstar. Known as “The Sultan of Swat” and “The Bambino,” Ruth’s legendary career began as a pitcher for the Boston Red Sox before joining the New York Yankees and transforming into a home run-hitting outfielder. Ruth’s power and charisma revolutionized the game, setting records with his prodigious home runs, including a then-unprecedented 60 homers in the 1927 season.
