Dis/placements Conversation | Lonnie Holley + Dr. Ted Rosengarten
The Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art hosts Lonnie Holley and Dr. Ted Rosengarten in conversation at 7:00 PM on Thursday, December 10 on Facebook Live. Holley and Rosengarten are one of the ten artist-respondent pairs in the Halsey’s virtual project, Dis/placements: Revisitations of Home, that features ten artists whose works deal with issues of displacement from their ancestral homeland in various capacities. Each artist was asked to submit works that speak most directly to their reminiscences of home. Artists were paired with writers who have offered their own reflections on the work and its relationship to the concepts of home and displacement. Holley’s work incorporates natural and man-made objects, already imbued with cultural and artistic associations, into narrative sculptures.
