“dia del trabajo” by Sandra Trujillo
The Sea Islands Center Gallery at the University of South Carolina Beaufort presents “dia del trabajo,” an exhibition of ceramic figures by Sandra Trujillo, on view March 6-25. The exhibition opens with a reception from 5:30 – 7:00 PM. The primary intent of the body of work is to depict the seemingly futile nature of labor in order to describe solidarity. The size, scale, proportion and absence of color of the works were chosen to create distance between the objects and viewers. Trujillo describes her figurative arrangements as “not intended to be devices for play, or for planning tactics of war, or even control, but scenarios that address complex social issues about labor and climate.” The gallery is located at 1106 Carteret Street.
