Concurrent Solo Exhibits – Mason Engler and Jim Malecky

Engler’s exhibition, Elsewhere, is a culmination of observation and imagination, as his everyday routines, experiences, and interactions shape his studio process. These paintings are drawn from quick observations; he takes these fragments back to the studio and reimagines them. The physicality of the works is important, not only in the subject, but the painted surfaces themselves. The paint carries the energy of these fleeting instances, mirroring the immediacy and rawness of the moment. In Something Understood, Jim Malecky displays his collection of sculptures and prints that affirm life even in its most harrowed states, his work giving no place to nihilistic inferences about existence. Malecky believes rightness of form is kin to every other rightness we long for.

On view Wednesdays through Saturdays.
