Concert Series: Splendors of the Baroque Naissance Glorieuse
Columbia Baroque celebrates Francois Couperin’s 350th birthday December 18 at the USC School of Music. The concert features Concerts Royaux No. 4, plus Marais’ masterpiece for viol, The Bells of St Genevieve, and Monteclair’s love-story cantata, Pan et Syrinx. Additional highlights include a Hymn of the Angels, plus French suites and carols. Performers are Brittnee Siemon, mezzo soprano; Jean Hein, Baroque recorders; Mary Hostetler Hoyt, Baroque violin; Erika Cutler, Baroque violin; Gail Ann Schroeder, viola da gamba; and Jerry Curry, harpsichord. Concert Conversations with Peter A. Hoyt begins at 7 p.m. followed by the performance at 7:30 p.m.
